When your first starting out learning 123D, it may seem a bit difficult to navigate around objects and space. If your using a trackpad, it may be a bit of a hassle to manually switch between the orbit and pan tools. With a three button mouse or tablet, you can easily switch between the two using right-click and a middle button. You can however, avoid panning all together by simply scrolling to zoom in and out of areas to ‘pan' across space. Selecting an object and hitting the 'F' key will reposition your perspective to the center of the select object(s), this is very handy when you want to quickly change your views orientation.

Using shortcut keys are a great way to quickly run functions and commands, saving you time! With Autodesk's latest 1.4 update, they added some new shortcut keys and a lovely hotkey legend. My favorite is 'F! It's probably my most used shortcut key.
You have the option to view your work in either Perspective or Orthographic. I tend to keep my view set to Orthographic since it gives you a better representation of symmetrical geometry. By default your view may be set to Perspective. You can change this by clicking on the eject arrow icon thats on the top right, just below the navigation cube. You can reset your view to ‘home' by clicking on the house looking icon.
The navigation cube can be used to orbit around your workspace. Click+hold and move your mouse to pivot your view. This navigation cube also serves as reference guide, letting you know what ‘side' you are currently looking at. If you click on a surface, your view will automatically be repositioned to that corresponding side. When you hover over the navigation cube, you get four triangle icons and two arrow icons. Clicking on these will change your view to the adjacent side, this is great for getting an absolute flat view of your workspace. The two arrow icons will rotate your view in 90 degree increments. Clicking on the edges and corners of the cube will also reposition your view, relative to the navigation cube.
Solved: I want to use the 123D MAKE program, but I can not download it now. 123D products are currently unavailable, but are there any autodesk-fusion360-header-nav-label.product-name. 123D Catch is an app for Windows, OSX and Android that lets a user turn a series of photographs into a 3D model (a process known as photogrammetry). Is there an alternative, preferably with a GUI, available for Linux/Ubuntu?
Part of the powerful Autodesk family, 123 Design is a useful and kind of simple 3D creation and editing tool which supports numerous 3D printers recently released. Desktop application, if you decide to work on both Tinkercad or Autodesk 123D Design you'll see the interface is very similar (they both are owned by the same company). Autodesk 123D Design is a simpler 3D CAD and 3D modeling software for hobbyists created by Autodesk. It is similar in scope to SketchUp and based on Autodesk's Inventor. AD 123D Design is part of the free Autodesk 123D Apps group it has some power yet remains fairly easy to use for 3D creation and editing, working easily with most 3D printer. Autodesk 123D was a suite of hobbyist CAD and 3D modelling tools created by Autodesk. It is similar in scope to Trimble SketchUp and is based on Autodesk Inventor.[2] As well as the more basic drawing and modelling capabilities it also has assembly and constraint support and STL export. Available for the software is also a library of ready-made blocks and objects.[3]
Autodesk worked in collaboration with three companies (Ponoko, Techshop and 3D Systems)[4] to make the software capable creating physical objects from designs using 3D printing technology.[5][6]
The 123D apps were discontinued by Autodesk beginning November 2016[7][8] and completing March 2017.[9] The tools in the 123D suite were replaced by Tinkercad, Fusion 360, and ReCap Pro.[7]
The 123D suite consists of the programs:
Catch uses photogrammetry technology to create a 3D model out of multiple pictures taken by the user. It does this by stitching together the images with common visual structures automatically, then asking the user to help connect points that could not be determined through software. Catch can be used to create 3D models of people, places, and things. With the creation of an Autodesk account, users can also export their newly created models to further manipulate in popular 3D modeling software.
The program is available for Windows, an app exists in the play store for Android, app store for iOS, and Windows Phone store.
To create a 3D model in Catch the user should find a subject that can be easily photographed from many angles in good light. If the user is trying to create a 3D model of something with complex features they can take close up pictures on those areas to give better definition to the resulting model. Autodesk recommends taking between 30 and 40 pictures to create a well rounded model but when photographing larger subjects the user can take up to 70 pictures to give greater detail to the model. Once all of the images are saved they are uploaded to autodesk servers so they can be stitched together and a 3D model can be made. This process can take several minutes. Finally after they model is created it is downloaded to the user's device for viewing and editing. The 3D models created by Catch can be used in a number of ways such as 3D printing.
Catch offers users the ability to view, comment on, rate, and download other users models. Likewise any user of the app has the option to share their creations with the autodesk community via Autodesk's built-in sharing functionality.
Models featuring small parts or hair and fur can cause problems for the Catch software because the mesh created does not allow for such level of detail.[citation needed] When creating a model, the Catch software can have trouble stitching together images that feature reflective or transparent surfaces, even with the user's assistance. Catch can also fail to properly create a model if the subject moves or changes when the photographs are taken.[citation needed]
Catch processed the user's images on an Autodesk server, therefore internet connection was required. Autodesk servers may be unresponsive at times.[citation needed]
